Have you ever stopped to think about what it would mean to shape the world?
The summer camp offered by the Cincinnati Architectural Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.) is a great way to explore life as an architecture student! Now that the coronavirus restrictions have been lifted, we will once again be able to offer an in-person camp experience for students this summer at the University of Cincinnati campus!
Architects design the world we live in and affect every part of our daily lives. The camp is a five-day, Monday-Friday immersive camp experience for young students who will be entering 8th or 9th grade in the fall, followed by a project exhibition, presentations and graduation celebration on Saturday. A two-hour orientation for students and parents will be held online on Sunday, July 10th to introduce you to our program before it begins. During Summer CAMP students will be introduced to the discipline of architecture; learn about influential architects of color; and be given instruction on drawing and design through presentations and hands-on group projects.
The Cincinnati Architectural Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.) is pleased to be able to present this unique experience in partnership with the local chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA); the University of Cincinnati's School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID), and through a partnership with The Children's Hospital. We hope that you can join us!

Summer CAMP Overview
July 10 - July 14, 2023
CAMP offers students a uniquely immersive summer experience where they will be exposed to the many facets of design and architecture. During the week-long in-person summer camp, students will be introduced to a variety of design and building techniques.

A few of the activities during camp week include:
9:00AM - 4:00PM
A complete schedule will be provided prior to the start of CAMP

Habitat Design – students will visit the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens and learn about the various animals housed at the world-renown zoo and how human interaction with animals can be used to advance preservation. They will have the opportunity to experience Animal Encounter areas with Zoo staff and explore specific sites that will be used for the design project. During the week of camp, they will design animal habitats using models and drawings. Through these activities, students will work both individually and collectively with their peers to create unique structures that will house the animals their team has selected.

100+1 Exercise – a “mystery box” style challenge where students will be tasked to create structures using multiples of common household items.
